S.E.V.E.D.A was founded on June 16, 2023, by Mrs. LaTanya S. Davis. LaTanya, the mother of four, is a survivor of domestic abuse. On July 17, 2021, LaTanya was presented with a vision in the form of a dream and that vision was S.E.V.E.D.A (Supporting Each Victim Encountering Domestic Abusee). On Sunday, July 18, 2021, LaTanya shared the dream with her two oldest daughters, De'Ja and Je'Da Bolden. After sharing the dream, both De'Ja and Je'Da had their mother promise to do something with her vision. In the early morning of July 19, 2021, around 6:30 A.M., LaTanya received a phone call from her youngest two children, Ade’Ja and Jared Bolden, that no mother ever wants to receive. That is when they broke the horrific news to their mother that her oldest daughter De'Ja was gone! In a matter of minutes, lives were drastically changed! That day, LaTanya lost her daughter, one of her best friends, and a huge piece of her heart was now empty. LaTanya’s children lost their sibling, and her grandchildren lost their mother, primary caretaker, and aunt. Even though they all lost the same person, De’Ja meant something different to each of them. The love and value of De’Ja to each person was enormous and irreplaceable. So, in honor of her daughter, to keep the promise she had made, S.E.V.E.D.A was born on June 16, 2023. By pouring her love for her daughter, De'Ja into S.E.V.E.D.A, LaTanya is holding on to and fulfilling the last promise she made to her beautiful daughter and assisting others. As she is turning her pain into her purpose, LaTanya advocates as she Supports Each Victim Encountering Domestic Abuse.
S.E.V.E.D.A is focusing on bringing awareness and education of domestic abuse to the forefront for all ages and encourages you to do the same and support each victim encountering domestic abuse as well. There are people in domestic abuse relationships who do not make it out because of fear, lack of knowledge and the tight hold their abusers have on them. LaTanya knows of this feeling because it happened to her! Because of the fear and lack of support, LaTanya was in an abusive relationship for five years which was too long and almost cost her her life! She is now providing others with something she wishes she had when she was going through the domestic abuse, SUPPORT! Because she wanted better for her children, she decided to get out! LaTanya gives the credit for her making it out safely to her Heavenly Father and stated if it were not for her children, she does not think she would have made the decision to leave!
